PHILANTHROPY > COMMUNITY AFFAIRS MANAGER
Tarah S. Evans, Community Affairs Manager

At a company that believes in giving back to the community, Tarah's role is twofold: To manage the widespread philanthropic efforts of the company and the Johnson family on one hand, and to develop Asset Management's Venture Philanthropy model of investment on the other.

She brings more than a decade of experience with non-profits and the private sector to the table.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Berkeley and a Master's Degree in Communication Management from the University of Southern California. Her professional career began in Washington, DC where she consulted to the Job Corps division of the U.S. Department of Labor. She also worked as an associate at a consulting firm that developed curricula for job training programs aimed at underprivileged youth.

After returning to the Bay Area, Tarah took over as director of New Ways Workers, a San Francisco-based youth program for high school students. Working with the mayor's office and the San Francisco school district, she designed and launched a variety of mentoring and school-to-career programs to help students finish their degrees and move on to college - as well as handling fundraising, grant-writing, and working directly with the youth.

At Asset Management, she handles all manner of giving, including grants to educational, arts and environmental organizations. Youth education programs are her passion - she volunteers at the BUILD Program, one of the organizations Asset Management supports in East Palo Alto.
