Experience
Melina Mathur is a seasoned venture capital advisor with a deep bench of operational experience across premier pharma and biotech companies. She first joined AMV in 2015 and was promoted to Principal in 2018.
Previously, Melina held a number of commercial leadership positions across biotech and pharma, including as Senior Director of Commercial Operations at Ginkgo Bioworks, Director of Product Management at Twist Bioscience, Pipeline and Portfolio Planning at Genentech, and RNA Sciences at Merck. Across these roles, she has led successful product launches, driven global partnerships, conducted due diligence for M&A deals, and synchronized operations between commercial, scientific, legal, and finance teams.
At AMV, Melina has supported over a dozen seed and Series A venture capital investments in therapeutics and digital health startups, including Unnatural Products, Welkin Health, Viewpoint Therapeutics, and more. She has served as a board observer for several companies in AMV’s investment portfolio.
Melina is also an Advisor for Stanford’s SPARK Program in Translational Research. Throughout her career, she has authored or co-authored eight papers, including two published in the Nature family of journals, and is listed as an inventor on an issued patent.
Education
Melina holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Bioengineering from Stanford University, where she was a Siebel Scholar, Accel Innovation Scholar, and National Science Foundation Fellow. She also completed Stanford Ignite at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Melina received her B.A. in Molecular and Cell Biology with Honors from UC Berkeley and was a Phi Beta Kappa inductee.
